Let Congress Know What You Think
Depending on your personal viewpoints on this important issue, we have two letters-to-congress for your consideration. One focuses on the important cultural aspect of the Independent Web, and the other on the similarly important small business issues of the proposed legislation.
Washington is currently overrun with corporate lobbyists flush with money for campaign "donations," as a result it may seem like letters from constituents and the voice of the public has a greatly diminished role in the U.S. government. If this is what you're thinking, for the most part you're correct, as the proposed "privacy legislation" has significant corporate backing. However, even in this unbalanced environment, a ground-swell of concern from the public cannot be ignored.
Preserve The Independent Web:
Email Congress Now
Click Here to use the Rally Congress web site to send an immediate email to your congressional representative(s) asking them to preserve the Independent Web by preventing this legislation as currently proposed. We've already written the email, and the Rally Congress technology will automatically route your email to the appropriate representatives based on your home address. If you have the means and desire, you'll also be presented with an option to have hard-copy versions of the letters hand-delivered to your representatives ($3 each on a credit card).
Save Small Business Online:
Email Congress Now
Click Here to use the Rally Congress web site to send an immediate email to your congressional representative(s) asking them to consider the small business impact of Rick Boucher's proposed legislation. Just as the above email, we've already written the email, and the Rally Congress technology will automatically route your email to the appropriate representatives based on your home address. This email also provides the option to hand-deliver hard copies for a nominal cost.
If both aspects of this issue concern you, please feel free to send both emails as each covers an important aspect of the proposed legislation.
Email, Write, Or Call Representative Boucher
Another highly effective tactic in making your opinion known regarding controversial legislation is to contact the author of the proposed bill. In this case, the online tools for petitioning congress don't provide proper tools for directly contacting a specific representative. So we've provided a prewritten letter, and all the appropriate methods of contact for Representative Boucher.
